Iran Carpet Co. to be privatized
TEHRAN –- Managing director of Iran Carpet Co. Ltd said that most of the stocks of the company would be ceded to the private investors by the end of the year.
Mohammadali Karimi stated that the company is to sell some 19% of its stocks to its current employees, its retired employees and those weavers it sponsors. Meanwhile, some 51% of the stocks will be sold to the National Pension Fund and about 30% to the Commerce Ministry. He also pointed to the recent reduction in the volume of Persian carpet exports, saying, “This should not be regarded as a matter of concern for the price of our carpets has not decreased.” Foreign customers are now distinguishing between Persian carpets and those illegally copied in another countries, he uttered.
Western Iran largest vet lab becomes operational in Hamedan
TEHRAN –- The largest veterinary laboratory in western Iran came into operation in Hamedan on Sunday.
The project, which covers 400 square meters of land, has cost 5 billion rials. The lab is to cover broad categories of virological and microbiological studies on the animals as well as various treatment methods for animal diseases. Researchers will also carry out biological DNA and RNA studies in this laboratory.
Iran, China to build North Coke Factory in Savadkuh
TEHRAN –- The Iranian North Coke Mfg. Company will cooperate with China International Trust and Investment Corporation (CITIC) over building a coke factory in Savadkuh, central western Mazandaran province.
The North Coke Factory, which is to bring about 400,000 tons of metallurgical coke annually, will meet the pressing needs of national iron and steel industry. Metallurgical coke is the main raw material for iron ore reduction processes and, thus, the mass production of this material will help the country’s steel industry to reach a 20-million-ton output in the next few years.
Rls.3b allocated to basic projects in Kahnuj
TEHRAN –- A 3-billion-dollar credit loan was drawn back from national fund for development of deprived areas in order to implement various projects in Kahnuj, Kerman Province.
The fund will be used to complete several health plans and other projects of the service sector. The city, which is located in one of the driest parts of the country, has been always suffering from prolonged drought and the local government has had to distribute basic foodstuffs like white flour among its people.
Pressurized irrigation grows 69% in Iran
TEHRAN –- The agricultural jihad ministry announced that the use of pressurized irrigation on the farmlands has increased this year by 69%.
Since the beginning of the year (March 20, 2004), the efficient method has been tested and used on some 52,000 hectares of lands all across the country. Pressurized irrigation had covered some 17,000 and 30,000 ha of lands in the country in the last two years. Meanwhile, drop irrigation covered 23,325 hectares of lands in the past ten months of the year.
Tehran to host Intl. Printing, Packaging Machineries Fair next week
TEHRAN –- The 11th International Printing and Packaging Machineries Fair is to kick off next Sunday in Tehran.
The 3-day exhibition will aim at marketing Iranian machinery and developing ties with other countries in order to exchange technical expertise. The Guild of Printing Shop Owners has suggested that the exhibition last longer and be held sometime in midyear.
Iran’s aluminum output to hit 200,000 tons by yearend
TEHRAN –- Iran’s aluminum output is expected to hit 200,000 tons by the end of the year.
In a nine-month period since the beginning of the year, some 155,000 tons of aluminum ingots were produced in the Iranian factories. In addition, the volume of aluminum imports, which has reached 42,000 tons, is estimated to touch 65,000 tons by the end of the year. Iran has also exported 63,000 tons of aluminum ingots in an 8-month period this year.
Handicrafts park to be established in Mazandaran
TEHRAN –- Head of Mazandaran’s Handicrafts Office said that they have planned to build a handicrafts park by Tehran-North Highway.
Mehran Emadi stated that the park’s land has been marked and some parts of the equipments have also been provided, ‘but the financial resources are not enough’. He also implied that they will build a one-hectare handicraft making training center in Chalus, west of the province, next year.
